El presente trabajo va dirigido a la revisión de la etiopatogenia de esta hemoglobinopatía, que sin constituir una entidad de frecuente presentación en la práctica clínica diaria, debe tenersepresente como una de las causas de intoxicación por agentes de uso común en nuestro medio. Se actualizan los criterios del tratamiento y se proponen medidas de prevención y control.
