Abstract

Tumors of posterior fossa can cause Obstructive Hydrocephaly. Its appearance, has topographic relation with the tumorous lesion: the ones of the hemispheric location displace and distort the fourth ventricle and the intraventricular ones obstruct the ways of circulation of the cerebrospinal liquid. Among the therapeutic options there are the ventricular   drainages to the outside, the ventricle-peritoneal or ventricle- atrial derivations or the immediate tumorous exeresis. In the last decades, the endoscopic thirdventriculostomy has become a viable alternative in this group of patients. According to the authors ‘opinion, the TVE before the surgery of the tumorous exeresis is justified in selected patients with symptomatic obstructive hydrocephaly. However, the TVE does not eliminate the risk of persistent hydrocephaly or posterior to the resection of the tumor, which is  relatively low.
