The XIX Congress of the Cuban Nursing Society in the context of COVID-19

On January 7, 2020, the Chinese authorities identify the causative agent of a new coronavirus, they call it SARS-CoV-2 (for its acronym in English Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome 2), due to its rapid spread, the World Health Organization designates the disease as COVID-19 and declares it, in march of that year, a global pandemic. Nursing is the largest professional group in the health sector and in Cuba, it represents 17% of the total number of workers in the health sector and in Cuba. The performance of these professionals has an impact, in the attention to the health needs of the population and in the context of COVID-19. The Congress of Nursing, has served to reflect on human care in times of pandemic, demonstrates that this professional faces daily with situations and needs that must be solved in an expert way and that the development of investigative skills.
