Pyogenic Liver Abscess, a Case Report

Pyogenic liver abscess is a delimited, purulent collection secondary to a demonstrable primary focus. The objective of this a Case Report is to describe a case of pyogenic liver abscess. Male patient, mixed race, 62 years old with a history of high blood pressure. He reported treatment for septic arthritis in the right knee and abdominal pain for eight days that had started in the right hypochondrium, sometimes acting as cramps accompanied by fever of 39-40 Celsius degrees and vomiting. He had tachycardia and was polypneic. He underwent emergency surgery, and a pyogenic abscess was located in the right lobe of the liver. Fever is the main initial warning sign; Imaging is the most reliable technique to diagnose liver abscesses and antibiotic therapy combined with percutaneous or open drainage are basic pillars in the treatment.
