Achievements, challenges and challenges of Family Medicine in Cuba
Keywords:
family medicine, primary health care, basic health equipment, CubaAbstract
In Cuba, in 2023, necessary changes will be experienced in the Primary Health Care strategy to transform the first level of care. The implementation of the approved modifications to the Family Doctor and Nurse Program, which proposes the rescue of the founding concepts, new actions that promote the independent action of the nurse and the incorporation of lines of work already known, which are established legally are among its main challenges. Even though practice has demonstrated the pertinence of these programs and their application has been in correspondence with the objective and subjective changes in conditions that have impacted the health system, it is necessary to enrich them and turn them into something incorporated into daily activities of the Basic Health Team and the specialist in Family Medicine.
