Factors that Influence Doctoral Motivation in Medical Sciences

Introduction:
In Cuba, the university plays a crucial role in social transformation and the training of highly qualified human resources, however, doctoral training at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Mayabeque is considered insufficient for the needs of current development.
Objective:
To identify the factors for motivation in doctoral training in professionals at the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
Methods:
Exploratory cross-sectional study with a mixed approach, in a non-probabilistic and intentional sample of 24 researchers who enrolled in the doctoral training classroom in January 2024, at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Mayabeque.
Results:
Favorable motivation levels predominated in 70.8%. 75% of the researchers considered the presence of the tutor as a highly influential factor in their motivation, their preparation, institutional support, availability of time and resources stood out with 58.3% each.
Conclusions:
The motivational factors identified as gaps for doctoral training in Mayabeque are viable in the development of actions to strengthen this process in the territory.
